Joy, Peace, and Happiness

There is a certain stillness
In the silence of the night
When my thoughts grow quiet,
My heart pauses,
And my thoughts turn to you,
And I am filled with joy.
For even on those nights
When I am alone,
I feel the touch of your hand
Against my face,
And the warmth of your lips on mine,
And I am filled with peace.
And though I’ve mentioned this before,
It bears repeating,
That even in the most crowded of rooms,
Whether by your brilliant smile
That warms the frosty branches
Of the barren trees in winter,
Or by the sound of your voice
That calms the leaves that tremble
After a summer storm,
I can find you,
And this brings me happiness.
Although my love overflows
With abundance,
And does not expect anything in return,
It is not the kind of love
That binds nor ties.
For love is not meant to encumber,
But rather to give you the freedom
To spread your wings and fly.
And so to you,
Whom I have chosen to enter
Into the sacred space of my heart,
I give the gift
Of my patience,
My trust,
My forgiveness,
And my honesty,
Only the best parts of myself
That are yours for the keeping.
For with my gift to you,
There are no expectations
Or conditions.
Only the exultation
Of the joy, peace, and happiness
That I feel when in your presence.
